WiiM Sound Review: Smart Design Meets Big Audio
The WiiM Sound is a premium wireless smart speaker designed for users who want powerful home audio, smart streaming features, and an interactive touchscreen experience in one compact device. Featuring detailed sound with strong bass, Wi-Fi 6E connectivity, extensive EQ customisation, and support for major music streaming services, the WiiM Sound delivers an impressive all-in-one listening experience. Its standout colour touchscreen display adds convenient access to music controls, presets, and custom clock faces, helping it stand apart from competitors like the Sonos Era 100. While it lacks Apple AirPlay 2 and built-in microphones, the WiiM Sound remains an excellent choice for high-quality wireless audio in modern homes.

The WiiM Sound is the brand’s first wireless smart speaker, and it makes a confident entrance into the home audio market. While it skips a few premium extras like Apple AirPlay 2 and built-in microphones, it focuses on what matters most: excellent sound, smart functionality, and an easy-to-use experience.
Premium Features at a Competitive Price
Priced at £299, the WiiM Sound competes with speakers like the Sonos Era 100 and Amazon Echo Studio. What helps it stand out is its bright 1.8-inch touchscreen display, which adds a layer of convenience and personality rarely seen at this price point.
Compact Design with a Clever Touchscreen
The cylindrical design is clean and compact enough for desks, shelves, or bedside tables, though it does require permanent mains power. The touchscreen display provides quick access to music playback, EQ controls, presets, radio stations, and even customisable clock faces and wallpapers.
Touch-sensitive controls on the top panel illuminate as your hand approaches, giving the speaker a sleek and modern feel.
Connectivity and Smart Features
The WiiM Sound supports Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, Ethernet, and AUX-in connections, making it flexible for a range of setups. Streaming support includes Spotify, Tidal, Amazon Music, Deezer, Qobuz, and internet radio services through the excellent WiiM Home app.
The app combines streaming services into one simple interface and allows users to save favourites, presets, and even customise EQ settings for different audio sources.
Impressive Sound Quality
Audio performance is where the WiiM Sound truly shines. Its dual tweeters and dedicated woofer deliver detailed highs, controlled bass, and a spacious presentation that remains clean even at high volume levels.
Bass-heavy tracks feel punchy without becoming muddy, while vocals and instruments remain clear and balanced. There are also multiple EQ presets available, alongside advanced graphic and parametric EQ controls for users who enjoy fine-tuning their sound.
Stereo Pairing Takes Things Further
Using two WiiM Sound speakers as a stereo pair creates a far more immersive listening experience. Channel separation becomes noticeably wider, making music feel fuller and more engaging across a room.
For users building a wireless home audio setup, this pairing feature adds significant value.
What Could Be Better?
The biggest omission is the lack of a built-in microphone. Alexa and Google Assistant are supported, but only through the included remote control rather than hands-free voice commands.
Apple users may also be disappointed by the lack of AirPlay 2 support.
Final Verdict
The WiiM Sound is an impressive first smart speaker that combines strong audio performance with thoughtful smart features and an excellent companion app. Its touchscreen display helps it stand apart from many rivals, while the customisable sound options make it appealing to both casual listeners and audio enthusiasts.
If you want premium wireless audio for your home without stepping into ultra-high-end pricing, the WiiM Sound is a speaker well worth considering.
